Where cooking and poetry meet

More than a decade ago, the poets Dennis Ávila and Paola Valverde set out to build a cultural refuge in San José. Rayuela and El Lobo Estepario followed, rooms that became beacons for literature and art in the city.

Life, like poetry, also breaks. Expropriations and the pandemic hit hard and silenced that dream for a while. Out of the loss came a new force: El Lobo Mestizo, where Mexico and Central America share one plate.

Today El Lobo Mestizo is a living cultural experience: a restaurant, three rooms for private events, and catering for cultural and corporate gatherings. We still believe that feeding people is also a poetic act.
